"The current EA/NFL Madden deal was signed as an extension back in 2020 for $1.5 billion, and it goes through the 2025 season. There is an option to extend it by a year through 2026 if target revenue was hit. So what we're looking at is a contract that expires in two years."
IMHO EA properly determined that CUT would syphon off players like me thus reducing MUT revenues and threatening the extension target with the NFL and a potential renewal of the license. I, for one, passed on Madden this year as did a number of other players, as I don't need more than one football game per year and I can't afford to fund two UT games either.
Only explanation that makes sense. Bet we'll see more support after EA cuts a renewal deal with the NFL.
