Just spent way too much time on Section 8 in the Tower of Valor challenges and here is a few things that ended up working for me towards the 4th and 5th levels.
Section 8 only allows you to call a play once the entire game. You need to go up by 10, 14, 17, 21, and 24 points to win.
Disclaimer I would say I am average at this game, typically about .500 in champs. Maybe the better players ran through this and have more tips but I hadn't seen a thread like this so... here it is.
DEFENSE
First and foremost I dont think this is possible unless you coach adjust to key on the dive. Their HB ran all over me. I probably played the challenges around 50 times and as soon as I keyed on the dive it got much more manageable. I tried slanting, pinching, hot route blitzing and the keying on the dive was the sole thing that got me stops.
If you do get them to a long 3rd down and on all 4th downs I had much more success in man coverage than I didn't with any zone I threw at them. I also guessed pass on all 4+ yard 4th downs.
I found it hard to get pressure on the QB and I would always mess up the backfield tackle when usering a DT or MLB. I stuck with the ends and had some success.
Turnovers were rare, they really dumb down your teams AI. Those picks that your used to getting in challenges turn into swats.
OFFENSE
It really challenged me to stick with the run. They ran a lot of cover 3 and their team got up to a 90 ovr so you won't take the top off without bringing them down to the line and out of cover 3.
Don't panic, you get 4 downs so averaging 3 yards is good. Stay ahead of the sticks until they press or get out of cover 3.
Run some plays out of goal line and run plays out of formations you don't use a lot to convert short first downs.
STRATEGY
For the later challenges (3-5) if they score a TD I would recommend restarting, its hard enough to get up 17, 21, 24 points, at this point cut your losses because they run a lot so the games go by quick.
For the later challenges really try to score late in the second quarter as you get ball in the second half. For level 5, in a perfect game, you only need to turn them over 3 times. With stop, score, stop, score, halftime, score, stop score. If you trust your 2 pt chances, you can get away with 2 stops. (As I reread this it frustrates me how I am trying to make that sound easy.)
I hope this helps someone who is struggling, the challenges have been fun for me, but Section 8 was a bit too much. Ive heard Section 9 and 10 are not as rough. Starting 9 now so ill keep this updated if I find any tips for them.
