Wanting to get back into CUT haven't played since launch only have have an 83 overall team. Not really sure where to start any advice would be much appreciated
Probably best to start with completing all the challenges first, seeing what you pull out of those packs in terms of players to sell for coins and those to keep for the squad. Then, you'll likely want to play all stages of H2H playoffs to try and get the lockers it gives. After that, I would transition to the rotation of champs and gauntlet runs. If you want to mix it up, you can play Ghouls Gambit (if it is still available), but I personally don't think the rewards are worth the time needed to play.

Tower of Valor challenges are key as while as completing your field pass because that will you give you 88's to 90's also do nightmares challenges and once you have decent team grind solo seasons and champs to get coins. Also whenever you can get 89 SS Dan Jackson because he is the best card in the game.

What makes him the best card in the game?
The solo season would probably help you a lot. You net a little coin and two packs.
I used to just those for quick daily challenges but recently the packs seem buffed. I've gotten a couple 92s and 93s out of it lately. At first, every season should get you a couple instant starters.
I think the nightmare house rules would be tough with an 84 team and extremely time consuming. I've completed them and the rewards have not been worth it.

He plays so much better than his stats. He plays his zone really well and can also undercut receivers for picks. He makes so many plays I sold a 94 to keep him.

How do you keep him from getting exposed on deep routes and corner routes? Or do you just play him at sub LB? I play a zone scheme and as soon as opponents saw it was Dan Jackson they knew he was slow and would target his side of the field. I have him on a UGA 50/50 TT as well.

I planned on staying away from anything H2H until I have at least a 90 overall team. I planned on grinding out all my solos and as much as I can and the field pass seen there is only 20 days left before season 5. Get as many free players as I can... is there any training re rolls that are any good?

I play cover 4 outside shade and the corners on the side shift to underneath the wr's I also bring him in on CB blitz's a lot and he does a good job of containing and can get to the QB pretty fast.

I've had extreme luck both ways with training. I've spent over a million training in one run and gotten absolutely nothing out of it. I've also pulled multiple LTDs in a few pulls. If there is a pattern, I'm not smart enough to see it.
Yesterday, the CFB training pulls were abmormally strong but I can't say that's still the case.
