The gameplay is a lot better than Madden. I stopped playing MUT all together because of how bad the gameplay was.
Content is definitely dry on CUT though and making coins is a lot more difficult since there is less coin rewards and cards sell for a lot less. However, if you're willing to grind out Solo Seasons or if you're good enough, play through Champs and Gauntlet and get rewards that way.
The only other way to make coins is by playing the market. It's tedious and you won't make a ton of coins most of the time, but it's pretty easy to buy and flip cards for 5-10k profit, just have to buy and sell at the right times.
