Make sure to look at the daily objectives screen before purchasing a pack. Otherwise it won't count, and you'll have to buy another pack to trigger it.

I just got the level 34 pack, rare bnd. The first card was 89 Judgkins, also had an 83 DT ultimate alumni card.
