Are you new to College Football Ultimate Team and not sure how to get started? Well, this is the place to be, whether you’re just picking College Football 25 up for the first time or just now giving the Ultimate Team mode a try. This game mode can certainly be overwhelming when you’re first starting, but I’m going to be going over the best way to get your team started.
We will cover things like the best challenges to focus on, the best programs to work on, players to have your sights on, how to make some coins and much more. Let’s get right into it!
Step 1: Ultimate Team Challenges
These challenges are an excellent place to start for a new team because most of them are fairly easy, and you can earn new players as well as some coins for free. Any card you see that is BND means that the player is nonauctionable.
1. Where to Find Challenges
- These can be found under the “challenges” tab on the main screen of Ultimate Team.
2. Which Challenges to do First
- Ultimate Team 101 and 201 Challenges
- These are going to be the easiest challenges and show you all the basics of the game. If you have never played, I highly recommend starting here. If you have played before and feel a bit more confident, you can skip these.
- You aren’t going to get the greatest rewards from these challenges, but since you're starting with a base team, these rewards can help you get through the little bit harder challenges coming up.
- In total, from both of these sets of challenges, you will receive the following:
- 7,500 Coins
- 77+ OVR BND Player
- 2x 77+ OVR Players
- 79+ BND Player
- 2x 79+ OVR Players
- 82+ BND Player
- 82+ OVR Player
- Nightmares Challenges
- Once you complete all of these challenges, you will receive the following:
- 6,500 Coins
- Nightmare 88 OVR BND Player
- 3x Nightmares 88+ OVR BND Players
- Once you complete all of these challenges, you will receive the following:
- Nightmares Forge Challenges
- Once you complete all of these challenges, you will receive the following:
- 4,000 Coins
- 3x Nightmare 88+ OVR BND Players
- Once you complete all of these challenges, you will receive the following:
- Legends: Bowl Legends Challenges
- Once you complete all of these challenges, you will receive the following:
- 2,750 Coins
- 87 OVR Player
- 90 OVR Bowl Legends Player
- 90+ OVR BND Bowl Legends Player
- Once you complete all of these challenges, you will receive the following:
- CFB Playoffs Challenges
- Once you complete all of these challenges, you will receive the following:
- 3,500 Coins
- Team Pack
- 89 OVR BND Player
- 90 OVR BND CFP Player
- 90+ OVR BND CFP Player
- 2x Small Lockers (Lockers contain a random reward that will be revealed on January 7th; the bigger the locker, the better the reward)
- Medium Locker
- Once you complete all of these challenges, you will receive the following:
- Tower of Valor
- These are going to be the hardest challenges, but they can get you some pretty good guaranteed players for your team.
- Even if you can’t complete all of these challenges, it is still worth completing whatever you can since even the lower rewards give you 87 OVR Players that can help fill your team out.
3. Playbooks
- Before going into any actual games, you’re going to need an offensive and defensive Playbook. These can be earned completely free under the Offensive and Defensive Scheme Trials in Challenges.
- If you already know of a team’s playbook you would like to run, then just go play the challenges for whatever scheme that team runs. Once you complete the challenges, you will be awarded a pack with your choice of every team that runs that specific scheme.
- If you aren’t sure which playbook you want to run, you can either try some out until you find one you like or go to our site and use the Playbook Finder to search for one you think you might like.
Step 2: Field Passes
Completing Field Passes each Season is an absolute must if you’re trying to go no money spent on this game. It gives some of the best free rewards in the game. There are currently three different Field Passes, but we are only going to focus on the Season 4 and the Season 4 Login Calendar Field Passes.
1. Season 4 Login Calendar
- From now through January 29th, you can earn rewards each day by simply logging into Ultimate Team. It resets each day at 1:30 pm ET.
- Earn rewards like packs, coins, Lockers, and Trophies (Form of currency in Ultimate Team) for just logging in each day.
2. Season 4 Field Pass
- The Season Field Pass will be one of the most important things you need to focus on every season in this game, as it gives you some of the best rewards in the game for free.
- Open up the Season 4 Field Pass, and you will see tabs labeled dailies, weeklies, and milestones. These three tabs are where you can find the Field Pass objectives you need to be working on to complete the Field Pass. You can also check the requirements for each objective here.
- I suggest focusing on the dailies first since they refresh each day, followed by the weeklies since once again they refresh each week, and the milestones last because those objectives will remain there all season, with more being added occasionally.
3. How to Complete the Field Passes
Make sure you are paying attention to the requirements of each objective, like having enough players from a certain program in your lineup and making sure you’re playing the correct game mode.
- Solo Seasons
- This is going to be the easiest and fastest way to get the Field Pass completed since most objectives will count in this mode, and the games are pretty quick and easy. These can be found on the Ultimate Team main screen under the section called “Solo Seasons.”
- There are currently two different difficulties, with Varsity being easier and All-American being harder. I recommend just sticking with Varsity to make it as easy as possible.
- Remember the Field Pass objectives you want to be working on, or even write them down somewhere so you don’t forget when you’re in the game.
- If you’re able to win the National Championship at the end of the Solo Season, you will earn coin rewards and a few packs as a bonus reward on top of completing the Field Pass objectives. Varsity Solo Seasons are pretty easy, so you shouldn’t have too much trouble winning the Championship.
- Head to Head
- Most Field Pass objectives you will be able to get done in the Solo Seasons mode, but some of them will require you to play in a head-to-head mode.
- These objectives will be a bit harder, having to go online against someone with a new team, so I would try to save these for toward the end so you can build your team up first.
- Sets
- These are the only objectives I would honestly try to avoid for the most part.
- More often than not, it is going to cost you quite a good amount of coins to complete one of these set objectives, and it’s just not worth it for the little bit of XP.
Step 3: Bowl Blitz Event
There is currently a Bowl Blitz event going on where you can earn daily Bowl Tokens that can later be redeemed for some really good players. I highly recommend doing this every single day you can.
1. Where to Find the Bowl Blitz Event and How to Play
- This event can be found in the Head 2 Head section under “Bowl Blitz.”
- Play daily bowl games at a new stadium each day. If you play one game, you will earn the stadium you played in that day, and if you play two bowl games a day, you will earn a Bowl Blitz Token.
- You do not need to win these games in order to earn these rewards. You just have to play until the game finishes, or the opponent quits, and it will count.
- These games refresh each day at 1:30 pm ET.
2. Bowl Blitz Event Rewards
You can earn some great rewards from this event, and all you have to do is play two games each day. Check out all the rewards below:
- 5 Bowl Tokens - 92+ OVR BND Bowl Blitz Pack
- 10 Bowl Tokens - 92+ OVR Bowl Blitz Pack
- 15 Bowl Tokens - 94 OVR Bowl Blitz Pack
- 20 Bowl Tokens - 95 OVR Bowl Blitz Pack
Step 4: Store and Auction House
After doing everything I’ve listed above, your team should be starting to shape up. Now, you can use those coins you’ve earned to finish building your lineup by purchasing players in the Auction House or packs in the Store.
1. Auction House
- The Auction House is a very good way to improve your team. You can get some great players for very cheap right now with how the market is.
- I highly suggest buying the players you want from the Auction House instead of spending coins on packs and just hoping to get lucky.
- As of writing this, the following price ranges for each OVR are good options to fill out your team, in my opinion:
- 90 OVRs for 12,000-16,000 Coins
- 91 OVRs for 18,000-22,000 Coins
- 92 OVRs for 30,000-32,000 Coins
- 93 OVRs for 47,000-50,000 Coins
2. Daily Recruit Pack
- Each day in the store, there will be a Daily Recruit Pack for 100 coins that you need to make sure you purchase. Every once in a while, you will get lucky and pull some great players from this pack.
- One of your daily Field Pass objectives each day is going to be to open a pack in the store, so this pack right here is an easy way to get that objective done each day.
3. Store Rush
- As of writing this article, through the remainder of December, there is something going on called Holiday Store Rush. Twice a day at 10:30 am ET and 8:00 pm ET, under the “Store Rush” section of the Store, there will be new offers.
- Keep in mind that even though these are special offers, packs are always going to be more risky than just going and buying the players you want.
- There is usually a 100 coin offer each time the offers update that I do recommend buying. This means you can get two offers a day for just 100 coins from the Store Rush.
4. Season 4 Trophy Store
- You can find this in the Store under the “Season 4” section. This is where you can exchange the Trophies you earn from the Season 4 Field Pass and the Season 4 Daily Login Calendar.
- You can either save your Trophies up to get a great player or spread them out across a few pretty good players to fill out your lineup.
- If you reach Level 51 on the Season 4 Field Pass, you will receive a token that can be used to upgrade one of the 90 or 92 OVR Trophy Players to a 96 OVR at the end of Season 4.
- You can exchange Trophies for the following rewards:
- 90 OVR - 30 Trophies
- 92 OVR - 150 Trophies
- 94 OVR - 750 Trophies
5. Booster Packs
- There are specific Booster Packs for almost every new release that can be found in the “Beginner Offers” section of the Store. The Booster Packs do cost a little money, but if you don’t mind spending a little, these are a great option and a fan favorite.
- The cards you get from these packs will be BND, meaning they are nonauctionable.
- If you’re looking to spend a little money but don’t want to break the bank, then I highly recommend giving the Booster Packs a try.
