A new solo challenge event called 'The Tower' can be found in CUT 26 this year, which brings unique rules and challenges, similar to House Rules, to the solo challenge experience. Whether you're a new player struggling to get past a section of The Tower or a seasoned veteran just looking for the fastest method to get 85 BND A.J. Harris at 30 Stars, today's article should help. We will walk through some tips I found to be useful when making my way to the end of the Season 1 Challenges, including a "cheesy" defensive play for those who need a little extra help.
Check it out below and share your tips in the comments at the end:
Floors 1-10
The goal here is simple: score the required point total for the challenge before time runs out. You can let the CPU score since your goal has nothing to do with their point total, but since there is no punting, you may want to consider playing defense for the shorter field after a turnover on downs. Whichever route you take, the first 10 floors are not difficult; they just take some time. If you could use some help on defense for Floors 1-10, read the last section of this article.
Floors 11-20
The next floors are simple since passing touchdowns give the DEFENSE 10 points. The easiest way to fly through these floors is to immediately punt the ball to the CPU when you're on offense. When you're on defense, call 'Field Goal Block' to force the CPU to pass the ball. Let the CPU score after the catch, and you will get 10 points each time. Simple.
Floors 21-30
For the final group of floors, play aggressive defense. Rack up points by pressuring the QB for a sack (2 points) or a solo tackle (1 point). Since there are only 3 downs to get a 20-yard first down, holding the CPU to a 3-and-out gives your offense great field position to score a few points of their own. If you are close enough after the turnover, take 2 shots passing into the end zone. Sometimes it may be best to just kick the field goal (3 points) and keep playing defense. This will conserve time and not risk losing points of your own while attempting to advance the ball up the field.
Be careful not to get tackled and lose points, or score a rushing TD and hand 10 points to the CPU when you're on offense. If you are playing offense or returning a kick or punt on special teams, consider giving yourself up (double tap X or square) so the CPU doesn't register a tackle. On 1st down on my side of the field, I found that immediately punting the ball to the CPU gave my team the field position with the best chance to score points.
If you are struggling at all, or simply want the fastest method to reach 30 Stars regardless of how cheesy it may be, read the next section:
⚠️🧀 Cheese Methods 🧀⚠️
1. An easy way to force the CPU is to turn the ball over on downs on your own 1-yard line. Come out in an obvious pass defense formation and let the CPU run the ball in for 10 points in your favor.
2. If you need help with defense on the first or third set of solo challenges for the Tower, this is the method I used, and I never had to play a challenge twice. In fact, most of my games were over before halftime. The setup is simple and will result in plenty of sacks, tackles, and great field position after a turnover on downs. Here's how it works:
- Step 1: Go to the formation 'Punt Block 44 Even' and select 'Straight Rush'.
- Step 2: After breaking the huddle, immediately audible to "8 Up Safe Man" (This keeps the return man closer to the line of scrimmage for less of a run).
- Step 3: After the quick audible to Safe Man, control the player who was sent back to return the punt and run up to where a safety would normally line up to assist with the play before the snap.
- Step 4: Make sure you are moving with your user-controlled player (the return man) when the ball is hiked by the CPU. If you are not moving when the ball is snapped, you will be frozen, waiting for a kick that will never arrive.
- Step 5: Finally, play help defense over the top on any receiver who may beat their defender. The QB will be forced to throw a risky pass or take a sack.
Here's how it should look when done correctly:
While method #1 will probably be better suited for Floors 21-30, it's worth keeping method #2 in your bag of tricks for future challenges in The Tower.
