CFB 27 features four different ways to pass the football, and it can be hard to know which one is best for you. Our friends over at Huddle.gg did a quick breakdown of each passing setting, sharing some pros and cons. Check it out below:
College Football 27 Passing Settings
A lot of people will tell you there’s one passing setting you have to use to be successful in College Football 27.
Don’t buy into that.
There’s nothing wrong with listening to other players, testing their recommendations, and seeing what works for you. But the biggest mistake you can make is assuming there’s a one-size-fits-all answer for passing settings.
We’ve seen some of the best players in the world succeed with each of the available options. Some prefer Placement & Accuracy. Others are more comfortable with Revamped. Some still play well with Classic. The common denominator isn’t the setting itself; it’s finding the one that feels the most comfortable and consistent for you.
That’s what matters most.
Below, we’re going to give a quick overview of what each passing setting does and how it works. But when it comes to the “best” passing setting in College Football 27, we'll always teach it's the one you're most comfortable using.
All of them can be effective in the right hands.
Placement
Gives the opportunity to control the power of the throw with a visual meter, as well as the option to use Free Form passing. The accuracy of your passes will be determined by the player ratings though if you're using this setting.
Placement & Accuracy
Similar to Placement, but this setting allows you get a "perfect accuracy" if you time the meter correctly on bullet passes. If you've ever heard of a "blue pass", that's what it's referring to. A "blue pass" is when the meter turns blue after a perfect accuracy throw.
This setting also allows you to use the free form mechanic, and is probably the most popular passing setting used, especially among competitive players.
Classic
Classic is the "old school" version of passing the ball, where you're simply holding the left stick in the direction you want to pass lead the ball, then pushing the receiver's icon to make the throw. This setting does allow for a lot of control on passes down the field simply with the left stick, and not needing to utilize Free Form passing.
Free Form passing is disabled if using this setting.
Revamped
The newest of all the passing settings available to us. This setting uses a meter that gives you more control over the trajectory and touch of the throw, especially when taking velocity off the ball and lobbing the ball downfield.
This setting gives you a lot of control, but it take a little bit of time to get used to. The biggest complaint we've heard with Revamped is the ball doesn't seem to have as much velocity in general as it does with the other options. However, it gives you a lot of control on lobs/touch passes down the field.
Pass Lead Increase
This determines the maximum amount of pass lead you can implement on a given throw. For example, "Large" is going to allow you to pass lead further away from the receiver than "Small" will.
If you're using Placement or Placement & Accuracy, this determines how far you can Free Form the pass.
Reticle Speed
This setting comes into play when you're looking to Free Form and move the reticle for where the ball is going to be thrown. The higher this setting, the quicker the reticle moves; the slower this setting, the slower the reticle moves. If you're not used to Free Form passing, we'd recommend starting on a lower number like 7 or so and adjusting from there.
