Need help with a good Defense play book
Defense is tough this year. The bad news is there isn't really a meta D this year...but that is also the good news. You can find equal success/failure from many different formations. IMO, there are 4 levels.
1st level: you randomly choose D and really have no game plan
2nd level: you have a plan and disguise coverages...but with blitzes not being OP this year, it can still be difficult to stop good passers.
3rd level: level two but you add in a good user. Stock coverage is predictable but a good user brings chaos and muddies up reads. A good user predicts route combos and jumps routes for ints or PBs
4th level: you take level 3 and add in a good switch stick. Old guys like me and been conditioned over 30 years to assume certain spots will be predictably open...but the young whipper-snappers that switch strategically can really make it a grind to move the ball safely and efficiently.
