How do you make it so your HB's automatically substitute when tired? I have a good backup HB, and set wear and tear for HB's to keep fresh and my starting HB stays in the game even when tired.
Honestly, I think the auto subs are a bit broken. I've just been manually subbing players out in the pre-play menu. It's not too bad with HBs since it's just the one position
in game - go to coaching adjustments and tab over to "subsituition"
change rb to "Keep Fresh"

i tried that already, it's not subbing him out when he gets tired

mhm... mine rotates my 3 RBs pretty consistently.
Do you have your RB1 listed as both your power and receiving back and a back up in behind him in those slots?

yeah i have 2 hb's and my hb1 is also my hb1 for 3rd down back and power back, and backup is the backup for both of those positions
