Big hit challenges don't give the star

I've played the second set of standout solos and the challenge that is 2 tackles, and 1 big hit in 2 plays is bugged for me. Apart from it being kind of difficult to get a big hit, the times I do it is not counting. Is this normal for everyone?

It never registers if you get it on the QB or you cause a fumble with the hit stick for me.

Flick a cut stick and hit the legs and it counts more often than flicking up on a hit stick
