how to stop wildcat unbalanced trick play reverse pass
blitz and user the right side try to get the passer but if u don’t used it and try to stop it they’ll glitch ur guys in zones and man
Ive had a lot of success against wildcat using the engage eight (or whatever 8 man blitz your playbook has), pass commit, and shifting the line to the side that the sweep would go to. Stops the sweep and weak side runs really well and if they pass, the pass commit reduces the chance of falling for the fake and you get the pass rush block sheds. Usually they wont even get the pass off but if they do you still have three people in deep blue coverage to protect the bomb.

Yeah I’ve got to where as soon as I see that they’re in wildcat I guess pass and assume it’s a trick play. Of course that doesn’t work so well if they actually run lol but that’s better than getting beat deep.
If you know for sure that it’s the reverse pass then just run man 3 deep, if they end up calling a run play it’ll be a 10-15 yard gain but they won’t be able to throw that deep bomb at least

The funny thing is 3 man deep against the wildcat actually shuts the run down fairly effectively. Unless you back everyone off.

Yeah it honestly really does, I said 10-15 yards being generous but you can somewhat shut it down if you play it right

When the ball is snapped look at the QB if he moves towards the ball it's a pass and u need to get on a safet or already be lined up with ur LB on that side but if he moves to block its the run I would recommend shifting the O line in what ever direction the run would normally go.
