Do any of you ever experience busted coverage? I just ran a cover 2 and my safety instead follewd the TE on an in route to literally the other side of the field. WR ran where the zone was and had an absolute free pass to the end zone. WTH.

To get technical then, it was actually a Cover 6 play but his piece was the cover 2 larger area. I'm not a football expert so I said cover 2 for simplicity. Needless to say, the call had every person in zone coverage, but my safety followed the TE down low and across the field. Maybe your answer doesn't change, but that's the full scoop.

Brother, I stopped even trying to run Cover 6 months ago. I feel like it's bugged or something. For me it consistently was giving up long touchdowns because of the exact reasons you stated.
I feel like some defenses apply match even if they’re not supposed to. I know in Madden you can turn match ‘off’ by doing something pre-play or on adjustment screen (not sure what…I’m sure someone knows), but not sure if it carries over to this game.
But yeah, I’ve had bad experiences running Cover 2 (zone). Guys just get left alone
Good to know. Thanks guys. Looks like I'll be abandoning zone plays because I've seen too many plays like this of wide open receivers.

When you say match, does that mean like man-to-man?

Shade up or down to cancel match. Or change your zones in the pre play menu… that also turns match off.

Exactly. It's why you see so many cheesers running wheel routes and Y sail so much.
You have man D, zone drop, and zone match. Cover 6 has match rules, where players will man up when certain things occur. Like others have said, shading up or down will cancel the match, resulting in drop coverage. Match has its place but it also has its weak points.
The problem isn't match is bad, it is most don't know the rules and think the game screwed up. Unless you really dig into it, it is "safer" to use drop for zones, where u understand where your players should be.

I learned something new today. Thank you all!
Where do you adjust shading? Is that the same menu for the strip ball aggressiveness and tackling aggressiveness and such?
That changes their zone drops. I think that may bust match principles and make everything drop coverage.
To shade coverage (I am trying to recall from muscle memory), on PS, you press triangle for coverage adjustment and right stick up or down. Down changes cloud flats and such to hard flats, while pressing up will change hard flats to clouds. You can play around with it in practice mode to get it right.

Ok, so it's the pre-play triangle option that affects that. Cool. I appreciate your insight. :)
