Scheme Teams cooked as we approach end game?

As the game progresses and we start to get cards with better stats (97 speed, 98 speed soon) are scheme teams even worth building, or is it more beneficial to only worry about theme teams with the same team chemistry rather than the playbook or the same scheme? It seems like we are getting way to many good players every drop to only focus on one scheme types players which will hurt more than help down the line.

I'm spread 45/50 and 3-3-5 title 43/50 with 50/50 theme team

I don't think so, with DDA you'll probably have 94 spd guys outrunning their 97 spd corners. Some other good stuff in the TT boost too, +1Thp for spread is awesome. Cant wait for cam ward with +1thp. Hopefully they even out the schemes of players more towards end game. Air Raid is spoiled.

Been maxed TT since Szn 1. Best part of scheme spotlight is the x2 Chem, so I can finally actually add non members to the squad.

Yes but does it matter if your already have TT. Scheme team Specifically for spread and 335 title seem to be not worth it.

The defense is my main issue, having to run players that are clearly worse just to try to fit a scheme when I already have the theme team.

Yep, I'd say theme teams are more important later in the game once there is parity between schemes. Right now I just run 45/50 and have a few starters not matching the scheme, all backups scheme'd.

It matters regardless. Theme teams are for those that can't afford God Squads, but are still as competitive. Every single player on my team was handpicked. Im only a 91 but max chem has kept me competitive since day 1

Yes but if you can afford those top players wouldn’t you say theme team is the only way to go, making scheme team unnecessary to a point

Theme team and scheme team go hand in hand* so I'm a bit confused. Top end players are worth entire teams on their own, that's why it's been pick and choose majority of this cut year

Agreed. 4-2-5 has finally gotten some real love but Spread Option is just laughably sad.

I would argue the opposite to be honest. If you have a bunch of top end guys everywhere you likely have some that fit your scheme, as the cards start to level out, a 97 QB with the scheme boosts would theoretically be better than a 97 QB without the scheme boosts. To be fair this is my fist go at an ultimate team so I do not have experience but if we are getting a bunch of top end guys spread out scheme wise, the boost should make them better than a non scheme guy.

Your backups may be a bit lower vs  just getting whoever is a high ovr but as mentioned before with the 2x theme boosts and with the ltds where you can change the scheme I think you would make up for a 3rd string TE, 4th string MLB or 5th string corner. Or if you have one of your starting oline at 91, you can sub in a non scheme guy and still have the speed boost.

It seems to me that trying to run a scheme team early in the game would put you at a disadvantage because the top end guys would be more diverse than in late game. For example I run a Power Spread and there wasn't even enough cards to run a true scheme team until this most recent SOTW drop (only 1 FB) so I couldn't get all 50. Where now you can get 2x scheme and sub out a lower ovr scheme guy for a non scheme guy and still get the speed boost. Before this, if I were to be running a 44/50 power spread with Sawyer Robertson (Pre Raiola)  am going to be at a big disadvantage because a god squad will be better even with the boosts.

Just a quick browse through the scheme teams and it looks like all but one offense schemes have a 96-97 qb, and only a few have low cards at a starting positions. So if your within 1-2 ovr you will likely get that boost with the scheme. And none of this takes into account a theme team, which will also give you a boost. So I would say as the game moves on the play would be to work towards a scheme team and not the opposite. I do not know how many 99s there will be but I find it hard to believe a full 52/52 of 99 ovrs  will be possible, and when the 99s start to drop its going to be very expensive to acquire them all. So a cheaper route would be the ST and on top of that a Theme Team.

Just my view of things, not saying its the best strategy but for what its worth...

I had Julius Peppers gaining fucking ground on Judkins up the sideline last night in a Squads game.
