Can anyone explain why defenders are always slower than the offense when the ball is in the air if they're even slightly beat? I should be able to catch up to a ball that is in the air for 3 seconds just as easily as the receiver but always they pull away. It's lke they slow down the defender once the ball is in the air, it's ridiculous

Without watching the clip, by definition, you want Robber ability. After watching the clip, if you have robber, and they're still getting beat, switch the assignments. I live on cover 2 hard flats with ball hawk on my corners and robber on my safeties. Only a 90 overall, maxed TT, solid job at keeping things boxed
It's literally just animation based and ratings don't matter. 5 speed faster than the WR? if the game decides you're beat, it's worthless. LB 8 speed slower than the RB? If the game doesn't want a TD, LB will be all american track star and hawk you. Extreme examples but I've seen both multiple times. Ratings just don't matter near as much as they should.

Well this is a Glitch play RPO to THE TE where if you are in man coverage your man won't cover the TE, you would have to guess PASS underneath and audible a player to a flat zone there to stop it,

Was playing man and usering, robber shouldn't do anything with that

Right, guess this is just what really bothers me that game is so based on getting animations which is easy if you run certain plays and ratings really mean nothing

So I know in man the defender won't cover but if I know it's coming and user it on top of there being a man in coverage should be able to make the play

My fault. College version of one step ahead would be the ability you would need

Gotcha, still don't know if that helps usering much but makes sense

Of course it would. That would help with the reaction time. House call would help your odds at a user pick at that point. Abilities are both complicated and expensive for sure

Fair, I've settled on using ballhawk for my dbs but having used blanket in the past feel like it doesn't make much difference but might switch it back

Ur absolutely right. Being a raider fan I used to play only man in Madden. But they nerfed one step ahead years ago, zone is my go to. And since it comes down to goalline defense, I prefer ballhawk myself on my flats. Robber on my safeties with my guy Melvin Jordan with recoup because hes a monster
